I chose this paper education from the 1940 because it was a very interesting topic to me to write about. I interviewed my grandparents, my step-dad, and my boyfriend.
When talking to my grandparents who aren't the same age, it was interesting listening to their stories of education during their time. A lot has changed between then and now. During their time they only had a few subjects to learn. The basics, math, reading, spelling. For boys, it was different. They would rather work at a young age to help their family, rather than attending school. I couldn't even imagine not being able to have a choice to go to school, instead having something chosen for me which was to work. My grandpa didn't even finish school, as soon as he was old enough to work that is what he did.
As the years passed on, more subjects were added on. My step-dad had the subjects we do math, reading, english, science, history etc. etc. It was amazing to see the growth and progress of education through all the years. It is kind of scary to think back then education wasn't that important to people or taken serious, can you imagine what the world would be like now if that was still the case?
Now for present education there are so many things to learn! There are language classes available, different levels of math offered, elective classes are offered as well. The more interesting type of learning to me is the online class availability. Now we are able to take course online. You have the option of learning in the classroom or the option of learning online. With new technology and advancements it has made this possible. It will be interesting to see within the next years or so to see where and what type of classroom teaching setting it will be, whether it will even be in classroom or if it will be through a computer and online..
